Famous Oahu Hotels

Famous Oahu Hotels

Oahuโ€™s history is as colorful as its landscape! Known as the โ€œGathering Place,โ€ Oahu has been the heart of Hawaii for centuries. Before it was the popular destination we know today, it was home to ancient Hawaiian royalty.

Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, was a small port town and quickly grew into a major trade center in the 1800s. This is where King Kamehameha I established his royal court, making it the government center of the islands.

By the 1900s, tourism took off, and travelers came to Waikiki’s beaches and luxury resorts. Hollywood also played a part in Oahu becoming a tourist meccaโ€”movies and TV shows set in Hawaii showcased its beauty and made it a dream destination.

Today, with its history, landmarks, and luxury hotels, including the renowned Waikiki Beach Resort, Oahu is a must-see for anyone who wants to experience Hawaii.

Now that you know what makes Oahu so historically rich, letโ€™s look at the must-visit hotels on the Oahu itinerary list!

Kahala Hotel

Kahala Hotel

Kahala Hotel. Two words: Luxury and tranquility. A celebrity favorite, nestled in a quieter part of Oahu, away from the hustle of Waikiki, this place is like a hidden gem.

One of my favorite hotels on this list, this place has hosted U.S. presidents and big names like Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Elton John, and Michael Jackson. It even has a cozy beach and saltwater pool for guests to use.

The rooms, whether it’s a standard guest room or a one or two-bedroom suite, are beautifully decorated in soft, calming colors with all the modern amenities for a comfortable stay.

One thing you have to do is book the dolphin encounter. I was a bit skeptical at first, but getting up close to the dolphins in the hotel’s private lagoon was amazing. It’s not just a touristy thingโ€”these are actual conservation efforts, and you learn so much while having fun. Plus, how many people can say they swam with dolphins on-site at their hotel?

Swim With Dolphin

The calm, clear water at the private beach is perfect for paddleboarding or just floating around, and the staff is always nearby with towels and cold drinks. I recommend grabbing a Mai Tai from the Seaside Grill and just sitting by the water as the sun sets!
