In the heart of Honolulu, venture to Ono Seafood for an authentic taste of Poke Bowl – a culinary masterpiece featuring cubed raw fish kissed by the ocean breeze and marinated in soy sauce, sesame oil, and island spices, prepared in true Hawaiian style.
Savor this delightfully fresh, high-protein meal that perfectly captures the essence of Hawaii’s beach flavors—my personal favorite as a comfort food and of almost every Hawaiian.
Laulau – Taro Wrapped Perfection
Hawaiian Laulau is a traditional dish that embodies the heart of the island’s culinary heritage. This flavorful delicacy consists of pork, fish, or chicken carefully wrapped in taro leaves and slow-cooked to tender perfection.
The process of slow cooking infuses the proteins with rich flavors and imparts a uniquely moist and succulent texture. Visit Helena’s Hawaiian Food in Honolulu for laulau you won’t forget!
Kalua Pig – A Great Feast
Kalua pig is a cornerstone of Hawaiian luau feasts. Traditionally cooked in an imu (underground oven), the pig is seasoned with Hawaiian sea salt and wrapped in ti leaves. The slow cooking process imparts a smoky flavor and tender texture, making it a beloved dish at celebrations and gatherings.
While Helena’s Hawaiian Food is well known for serving the best Kalua pig in the town, this time, we tried a new place and really couldn’t get the taste out of our palates. The Surfing Pig’s Kalua pig sandwich is something that you’ve got to try. It was seasoned with the right flavor, making it one of the most delicious meals we have had.
Loco Moco – Fusion Harmony on a Plate
For a hearty experience, immerse yourself in the comforting layers of Loco Moco at Rainbow Drive-In. Picture a mound of rice crowned with a hamburger patty, a golden fried egg, and a cascade of brown gravy – a symphony of Hawaiian, Asian, and American flavors that will leave your taste buds singing in harmony.
Support Local Vendors – Delve into Ono Eats
Ono Grindz & Makeke is an open market located on Ewa Beach that offers a full menu of food by local vendors. We really love this place because you get everything possible in one place. There are multiple food vendors to choose from, and you can taste good food. From savory to desserts, you’ll find it all in the unique Aloha style.
When we visited the place, we first went to Minasa’s stall and had their delicious lechon fries and famous ube churros, which were sweet and crisp. We then moved forward and had the most amazing chipotle-flavored Corn on a Cob from Corn Onoz, Hawaii.
This is one of the best places to visit with your family. You can find delicious food, shop for gift items, get your happy treats from the food trucks, and a lot more! We had a really great time here. They are open every Thursday from 4 PM to 8 PM, so do plan a visit if possible.

Tacos & Korean Food – Ono Grindz
If you are craving delicious food, try the Hawaii Ono Grindz food truck. Trust me, food trucks in Hawaii serve great food. We recently tried the tacos at Ono Grindz, and we were quite pleased overall.
The chicken taco stood out with its perfectly crispy fried chicken and just the right amount of seasoning. The sauce was a delightful mix of tangy, spicy, and sweet flavors, which beautifully complemented the cabbage and kimchi sourness.
Next, we tried the fish taco, which was flavorful and moist, though it could have benefited from a bit more sauce. Despite this, the combination of fish and vegetables was enjoyable.
The overall quality and taste make Ono Grindz worth a visit. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys tacos or Korean cuisine.
