I had a good experience. The condo is literally 5 minutes (or less) walking to Waikiki Beach. On the way there you have Starbucks (with a few outdoor tables), Burger King, and next to it a great Mexican place (OMG-Oahu Mexican Grill) which makes great tacos and frozen margaritas. The place is also 10 minutes walking to Duke’s Waikiki, a famous place (yet a bit touristy) that you may want to try out – I recommend their Breakfast Buffet. The place is also about 20 minutes walking from Safeway – to reach it you will have a nice walk along Ala Wai boulevard and its river. Also, in that same direction you will be able to head for Tonkatsu Tamafuji, an historical (and highly popular) Japanese restaurant specialized in Tonkatsu. Around it there is a cute Cat café – last time I was there, they had tons of kittens. Also, not to far from there you have Leonard’s Bakery, which specializes in Malasadas (Portuguese donuts) – I highly recommend them. Also, right in front of the condo you have a rack of city bikes that you can rent for a nice bike ride along Kalakaua Avenue or the entrance of the Diamond Head hike. The place is about 20 minutes driving from the HNL airport – if you are renting a car, I would recommend to do it at the airport because they have the best fares.
